Europe’s leading imaging and sound association has named Sony Creative Software’s Vegas Pro 9 HD video and audio editing software the winner in the European HD Video Editing Solution category.

EISA is the largest association of journalists in the European multimedia sector. Its members come from the editorial staffs of almost 50 audio, mobile-electronics, video and photography magazines in 20 European countries. The winners were selected by a jury comprising journalists and independent technical experts.

In its laudatory statement, the EISA jury says: Vegas Pro 9 is a thoroughly professional editing solution at a price affordable even for video amateurs. Highlights include ease of use, an unlimited number of audio/video tracks, and a diverse selection of video formats, including DV, HDV and numerous AVCHD formats. Vegas Pro 9 also processes professional formats such as XDCAM, SD/HD-SDI and RED 4K. Users can mix 5.1 audio, and for precise color grading the editing solution can be expanded with an AJA breakout solution that enables the video image to be played back on a television screen. The software runs smoothly on a powerful standard PC. For interested beginners with only a small budget, Sony Creative Software offers the less expensive Vegas Movie Studio 9 packages as an alternative to Vegas Pro 9. With a limited range of functions, the same professional yet easy-to-use user interface is available.”

Dave Chaimson, VP of Worldwide Marketing at Sony Creative Software, comments: “It is an honor for Sony Software to receive recognition through this award not only from end consumers, but also from industry professionals. The number of amateurs in the video and creative fields continues to grow steadily, so it is important to serve all the needs of this target group in order to enable high-quality work at an affordable price.”

The EISA jury also highlighted five other Sony products: European Personal Media Player (Walkman NWZ-X1050/1060), European Compact Camera (Cyber-shot DSC-WX1), European HD Camcorder (Handycam HDR-XR520V/XR520), European Zoom Lens (G Lens 70-400mm F4-5.6 G SSM), and European Video Projector (Bravia VPL-VW85).

“This year marks our best result to date at the EISA Awards and thus underlines the success of the innovations undertaken at Sony,” says Fujio Nishida, President of Sony Europe. “It is an honor that the work of our designers and engineers is recognized in this way by a European association of journalists whose reputation is growing rapidly worldwide. At Sony, we are concentrating more than ever on developing new products that offer our customers fantastic possibilities. We are pleased that the EISA jury has honored our efforts with six awards for Sony in the various categories.”

The 2009-2010 EISA Awards will be presented during a gala event in Berlin on September 4.
