Avid continues to focus on openness and flexibility in its solution development strategy.

The updated preview now shows content in HD (1080p24) on SD monitors. Users can now combine media with differing frame rates and resolutions (SD and HD) in one timeline without needing a second transcode and without time-consuming frame-rate conversion.

Avid has also announced that native media support will be expanded to include file-based media from Panasonic AVC-Intra and Ikegami’s GFCAM format, enabled through Avid Media Access (AMA).

Media Composer, Symphony and NewsCutter will be available by the end of this month, with Interplay due to launch as early as September 16, 2009.
