With Disney’s “A Christmas Carol”, cinema visionary Robert Zemeckis (“Forrest Gump”, “The Polar Express”) once again demonstrates his penchant for the extraordinary - also in technological terms. Produced with the latest motion-capture and 3D technology, comedy star Jim Carrey (“Bruce Almighty”, “Yes Man”) plays seven leading roles himself in the spectacular new adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, supported by character actors including Colin Firth (“Mamma Mia!”), Robin Wright Penn (“Message in a Bottle”) and Gary Oldman (“The Dark Knight”). Disney’s “A Christmas Carol” will celebrate its world premiere on November 3 in London as part of an unprecedented event that will launch the Christmas celebrations in the British capital.
About the film: London, at the end of the 19th century: the old Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) is an incorrigible miser. Even Christmas is nothing but a nuisance to him. On Christmas Eve, his deceased business partner Marley appears to him. Marley was once an ice-cold businessman himself and now bitterly regrets it. He predicts a grim end for Scrooge if he does not fundamentally change his way of life. That night, Scrooge is haunted by the spirits of Christmas, who confront him with his own heartlessness and urge him to change before it is too late.
