Award-winning: The vast majority of prize winners honored at this year’s Emmy Awards in a total of 33 categories such as Outstanding Picture Editing, Outstanding Sound Editing/Mixing and Outstanding Program once again used at least one Avid audio or video solution to produce the award-winning television programs. Avid systems were used by more than 125 nominees: These include first-time nominees and winners such as Generation “Kill: The Cradle of Civilization,” “Little Dorrit” and “Grey Gardens,” as well as honorees receiving the award repeatedly such as “30 Rock,” “Damages,” “House,” “Mad Men,” “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,” “The Office” and “True Blood.”
This year, the 61st Emmy Awards thus once again confirm the trend that postproduction professionals prefer Avid solutions. Just a few months ago, Avid Media Composer software was named the “preferred choice” by the Board of Directors of American Cinema Editors (ACE). Most winners at the 2009 Oscars and ACE Awards also relied on one or more Avid solutions. The successful film Slumdog Millionaire, for example, was created using Avid technology and received Oscars in categories including Motion Picture of the Year, Achievement in Sound Mixing and Achievement in Film Editing.
The team of the successful TV series “30 Rock,” which received a 2009 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Picture Editing for a Comedy Series (Single or Multi-Camera) category and was nominated in 21 other categories, worked with the following products:
* Avid Media Composer, Avid DS Nitris and Avid Unity for editing, finishing and shared storage
* Digidesign Pro Tools and ICON for ADR, dialogue editing, sound effects, music editing and mixing

Further 2009 Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Picture Editing, Outstanding Sound Mixing and Outstanding Sound Editing categories went to the following programs, which were also created using Avid solutions: “Breaking Bad,” “Taking Chance,” “House,” “Generation Kill,” “Entourage,” “Weeds,” “102 Minutes That Changed America” and “Battlestar Galactica.”
