Viral clips have now become commonplace on video platforms and social networks. Most of these entertainingly packaged advertising messages cannot do without visual effects. These messages are often highly convincing and leave viewers uncertain as to whether they are genuine facts or a well-made deception.

At the animago CONFERENCE, FVM provides an overview of current work on viral clips. Many aspects are presented, including the imitation of the handheld-camera look, or how to avoid 3D motion tracking while nevertheless achieving such a look.

Faranna also addresses the basic principles of viral marketing and the role a VFX company plays in the entire process.
