After a fairly brief introduction, the light modifiers used for flash photography are presented. A study of the same subject with a wide variety of lighting setups demonstrates the effect of individual light modifiers. Practical photographs accompanied by diagrams of the photographic situation and lighting setup in the studio and “on location” provide very practical guidance for your own shots. Skillfully photographed examples offer plenty of inspiration for experimenting with light during a shoot.

The introduction to the subject can certainly be described as condensed. That is undoubtedly an advantage for a photographer already familiar with the material, since they do not have to read existing knowledge again. However, one has to ask who this introduction was written for. For a newcomer to the subject, it is at least too little.
The photographs and setups themselves can certainly be exciting for the interested photographer. Unfortunately, the book’s setup drawings are not useful without the text that follows. A top view would have been easier for the reader to understand. The book also presents almost exclusively ProFoto light modifiers. A more fundamental examination of design and effect would certainly have been possible without so much advertising.
