New Prosumer Tool from Avid

There is a large gap between Media Composer and Pinnacle in Avid’s line-up. This is now to be filled with Avid Studio, a Premiere Elements competitor at an aggressive price with a substantial range of functions.

Alongside a New Pinncale version, Avid has added “Avid Studio”, a video-editing program for “demanding but non-professional” editing, to its range. A timeline editor with unlimited tracks, markers and keyframes, a media editor for import and correction, and a media library for management take care of the EDit; various add-ons and plug-ins handle the effects (including Red Giant). A Title Editor, audio support and a full authoring module are also included. Avid Studio is available as a download for 170 euros from March 8, 2011; the boxed version appears in the second quarter.
