The all-in-one finishing tool “Smoke on Mac” for Mac OS X is said to have been expanded with creative and efficient features. Among other things, a newly designed 3D lighting system has been added. The upgrade is also said to include extensive stereo features and integrated new colour-correction tools. The conform and finishing workflow with Final Cut and Media Composer via AAF and XML has also been improved. Support for new native media formats, ranging from DSLR H.264 to full-resolution R3D data, rounds out the features.
Autodesk also brought the new version of its VFX toolset Flame Premium 2012, which likewise benefits from extensive new relighting tools, improved stereo 3D tools and integration with Autodesk’s 3D software platforms such as Maya and 3ds Max. Many of the improvements have also flowed into Flare 2012.
