Real-time previsualization of dynamic lighting is intended to be possible with the Lumatix plug-in directly in the Autodesk 3ds Max viewport. According to Lumatix, the plug-in behaves exactly like the 3ds Max viewport – with all the familiar tools, light sources and materials. According to Lumatix, the tool can be used with 3ds Max versions 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012 and is available for Windows 32 or 64 bit.
Atrium Designer is intended to change the digital 3D design process from the ground up, because 3D scenes are intended to be designed completely interactively. According to Lumatix, every change to lights, materials and geometry can be seen immediately in the interactive Atrium Designer viewport. Long rendering times are intended to become a thing of the past, and it is intended to be possible to coordinate designs with customers directly on site in a few milliseconds. This is intended to make it possible to reduce the costs and effort for a project considerably.
The new functions in Service Pack 4 include support for Mental Ray Material, a BRDF curve and a Fresnel function for rendering and lighting, correct energy conservation for V-Ray and Mental Ray materials, as well as support for camera shortcuts and bitmap mono, RGB and alpha output.
