Cloud GPU Technologies from Nvidia

At this year’s GPU Technology Conference, Nvidia presents another innovative development. Cloud computing receives acceleration through the Kepler architecture.

According to Nivida, this Kepler cloud technology leap is already being used in larger data centers, where several users perform calculations simultaneously using fast virtualization software. But in addition to large data centers, more and more companies also value Kepler cloud acceleration. Through the use of Nvidia VGX platform technology, virtual desktops are accelerated to such an extent that no delay times occur. Employees can therefore stream compute-intensive applications directly to notebooks or mobile devices. There is no need to worry about sensitive data, since no data is stored on the end device for data-protection purposes.

The entertainment sector also benefits from this Kepler cloud technology. Nvidia GeForce GRID technology supports cloud-gaming services built on the principle of "gaming as a service". Nvidia said that this would allow users to play games via streaming that are intended to far surpass the potential of today’s consoles.

Comments on the new development come directly from Nvidia’s CEO personally.

Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said that this Kepler cloud technology would catapult cloud computing into a new era. "The GPU has become indispensable. It is of central importance to gamers. It is crucial for realizing the ideas of digital artists. It is essential for touch-enabled devices to deliver sophisticated graphics, and now with the cloud GPU we are providing an incredible experience, regardless of whether someone wants to work via remote access or, as a gamer, play free from PCs or consoles".
