With this special offer from online retailer Videoguys, Avid could gather back the sheep it lost to Final Cut or Premiere Pro: for only 488 dollars, owners of Xpress DV or Xpress Pro dongles can upgrade to Media Composer until mid-June. Initially, the price buys an upgrade to version 6.5, with an upgrade to version 7 at the end of June included.
For 999 dollars, users can also upgrade directly to Avid Symphony 6.5. This software includes the same features as Media Composer, but with improved colour correction and Boris Continuum Complete. In addition, Media Composer remains an inexpensive option for students. The student version of Media Composer is available for around 295 dollars with free upgrades for four years.
