One year after the release of Clarisse iFX 1.0, a new version, Clarisse iFX 1.5, is now ready for users.
"When we introduced Clarisse iFX last year, we did not expect such a large and positive response from the CG community. That is why we are currently very pleased about the release of Clarisse iFX 1.5, which is the result of a year of hard work and collaboration between our R&D department and the R&D departments of major studios," said Sam Assadian, CEO of Isotropix. The major studios include Industrial Light and Magic and Double Negative. Alongside the major studios, medium-sized studios such as Ellipsanime and Cube Creative also helped to optimise the new version.
Clarisse iFX includes a large number of improvements, especially in rendering, workflow, memory optimisation, out-of-the-box pipeline, as well as integration and support for the Alembic 1.5 format.
According to Isotropix, Clarisse iFX 1.5 should be able to load projects 75% faster, and the improved Dependency Graph Evaluation Engine is said to bring a thousandfold speed increase. When working with a lot of transparency, Isotropix promises work that is fifty percent faster than with the previous version.
Seek and you shall find
Searching for specific assets is intended to be made easier in version 1.5 by a newly developed Item Search Engine. Selection or display after a search is supported by specifying several criteria.
Photorealistic rendering
The numerous new features supporting photorealistic rendering include a 3D depth-of-field effect and faster motion blur. Artists who want to program have access to all functions of the new Python engine.
In addition, Alembic 1.5 features are fully supported and a subsurface-scattering engine has been added. Isotropix also implemented a new hair and fur engine alongside new physical shaders.
How did version 1.5 come about?
"The number of new features is so high that we could actually have called the new version Clarisse iFX 2.0," said Houman Assadian, Sales Director at Isotropix. "But we wanted to reward our early users by offering Clarisse iFX 1.5 as a free update. That is how Clarisse iFX 1.5 came about," he continued.
Time to celebrate
Isotropix is also offering a Clarisse iFX Anniversary Pack. From July 22, 2013 to August 31, 2013, new users who want to use Clarisse iFX professionally can buy the software for 1,299 euros. According to Isotropix, this represents a saving of 5,100 euros compared with the regular price. It includes one licence for Clarisse iFX and five GNODE licences.
