Cohan Wegg’s unusual vehicle makes you want to take it for a spin and impresses with its high level of photorealism.

As a hobby project, he created a 3D replica of his tuba in 2008. He initially carried out the work in AUTOCAD. Every measurement was taken to an accuracy of one tenth of a millimeter and transferred into CAD. He mainly used spline extrusions. To obtain a clean mesh that could be unwrapped, Cohan Wegg reconstructed the entire model in 3ds Max. The "handled look" of the metal was created, among other things, using photographed fingerprints in the reflection channel. In the end, the powerful tuba was decorated with a delicate daisy. For a CGI contest held by the company Steinzeit, the instrument was revived as a racing horn in 2010 after brief research into radial engines and racing tires. In the animago image, the lighting was created using drawn brightness gradients (HDRI), and the background was kept neutral. The passes generated with Mental Ray were combined into a whole in image editing.
