HP will split up. HP Inc. will take care of PCs and printers, while Hewlett-Packard Enterprise is to focus on enterprise IT with services and hardware for large companies.
The most important positions have now already been confirmed by HP: Meg Whitman is to head Hewlett-Packard Enterprise as CEO and President. Dion Weisler will hold these positions at HP Inc. in future.
With this step, HP wants to secure its future, as the company has been in difficulties for several years. The PC division is said not to be doing so well, but internally the strategy was not really clear either. What is clear is that HP faces several changes. A further 16,000 jobs are to be cut, meaning that the total number of jobs lost could ultimately be as high as 50,000.
The split is to be completed in 2015.
