The model is based on the GM200 ship with Maxwell architecture. Compared with the GM204 graphics processor in the GeForce GTX 980/970, Nvidia has changed nothing technically, but merely made the chip wider. Because Nvidia widened the memory interface from 256 to 384 bits, 96 raster output stages and a 3 MB cache are available – uncut.
Furthermore, according to Nvidia, the graphics card supports Feature Level 12.1 of Direct3D 12 and would therefore be compatible with the upcoming 3D interface of Windows 10. According to Nvidia co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang, it is currently the most powerful GPU with more than 8 million transistors; last year’s Titan Z still had 7 million. But just like the Titan Z, the X model contains 12 GB of RAM.

VR Cooperation
Huang first presented the graphics card at Epic Games’ GDC session, and there was a good reason for that: the Nvidia graphics card was used to create the virtual-reality "Hobbit" spin-off "Thief in the Shadow", which Epic made together with Oculus and Weta Digital. In this VR event, VR users encounter the CG dragon from "The Hobbit" in Smaug’s treasure cave.
Price
The price of the Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan X is expected to be 999 US dollars. Until a faster competitor appears on the market, Nvidia will probably be able to justify the very high price. You can find all further information about the Nvidia GTX Titan X here.
