A Minion of Your Own

Who would not like their own individually designed Minion? With this Photoshop tutorial, it is no longer a problem!

Incidentally, our new DP issue 05 :2015, with the Minions on the cover, was also published today. There you can get inspiration from Illumination Mac Guff director Kyle Balda for the right look for your own Minion.

In the tutorial, you first create a 2D Minion as vector graphics, then transform it into a 3D-looking Minion using Layer Styles, the Mixer Brush Tool and painting techniques. DomQuichotte then shows how to add the right hairstyle and other attributes and design a character’s expressions and emotions.
