Epic Games will soon release its new version of Unreal Engine and is already revealing what it has put into the update:
- New physical shading model for realistic rendering of hair, eyes and cloth.
- Capsule Shadows for buttery-smooth shadows
- Lightmass Portals for daylight simulations
- Per-vertex Translucency Lighting that uses only half as many shader instructions and texture lookups
- Support for 3 Lightning channels
- Integrated Intel Embree Ray Tracing Library
- Integrated updates for D3D12 RHI for better CPU utilisation and parallel creation of render commands
- Improved quality and performance of SubsurfaceScatteringProfile
- New material functions for rendering small particles in focus
- Rendering materials with different translucency at lower resolution, which increases GPU performance
