Blender with VR Support in Development

Following the Unreal and Unity game engines, the open-source tool Blender is now also set to receive makeshift support for VR games.

In the video, William Culver presents his work on complete support for the HTC Vive for Blender software, including Room Scale. Development is still a long way from an official release. But you can see: it can work.

Since Blender can also be used to create 3D objects for games or 3D printing, VR support allows developers to view objects at their planned life size before they are printed or implemented in the game. If the object does not match the idea, it can simply be adjusted.

Culver’s support for the HTC Vive is already available to download (although it still has some bugs and missing functions). Motion Controllers are not yet supported—so objects cannot be created in virtual space, only viewed.
