Star Trek Beyond grossed 182 million dollars in the USA on its first weekend alone for the series’ 50th birthday.
A VFX blockbuster made possible by 900 creative and dedicated artists. Unfortunately, there was only room for 300 of them in the credits. Originally there were even supposed to be only 100, but lead agency Double Negative was able to negotiate more.
Why is it that Hollywood does not even grant VFX artists the small pleasure of finding their names at the end of such a cinema smash? After all, they are the ones who make a significant contribution to the flood at the box office. A credit costs nothing. We don’t understand.
