This step enables Rise | Visual Effects Studios, whose headquarters are located in Berlin, to also offer production services and increase the efficiency of its range of services for international clients. It also makes the VFX studio unique in the German production landscape: Rise thus becomes a one-stop shop for producers, where everything is created and controlled from the first idea through to final delivery after post-production.
“We still see ourselves as a partner for studios and our clients, but through Rise Pictures we are able to come on board a film project earlier, both creatively and as a producer,” says Rise co-founder and VFX supervisor and producer Sven Pannicke. “When we founded Rise in 2007, we never thought that we would work so quickly and closely with the major studios and national and international production companies. Since then, we have been increasingly integrated into the production process of film projects – so it was only a logical step for us to also act as a producer,” Pannicke told Variety.
What Will Rise Pictures Do?
In the long term, Rise wants to focus on two production segments: firstly, the co-production of national and international film and TV productions with high production budgets and an extensive need for digital effects and computer animation. In addition, the team plans to work on in-house projects with a medium to high budget, both German- and English-language productions.
Ulrich Schwarz will head the new company Rise Pictures; previously, as Creative Producer at UFA Cinema, he worked on the feature-film production “The Physician”, among other things.
Rise at animago
On 27 and 28 October, there will be an opportunity to meet the Rise team in person at the animago AWARD & CONFERENCE. Not only is Rise among the nominees with its VFX work on “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” and “Captain America: Civil War” – they can also be found as exhibitors on the freely accessible Trade Floor at Munich’s Gasteig.
