New update for Sapphire and Continuum from Boris FX—two VFX plug-ins that extend tools such as After Effects, Resolve or Nuke with useful editing and compositing features. Version 11 of each has now been released; here is an overview of the new features. For more plug-ins, there are also free articles from our DP issue 03 : 17 further down!
Sapphire 11 New Features
- Mocha tracking and masking now integrated into Sapphire
- 50 presets for effects and transitions
- S_Mocha Spark for masking and tracking data export
- Sapphire Units allows Sapphire features to be purchased separately.

Continuum 11 New Features
- Primatte Studio with many keying functions, including automatic green/blue-screen analysis, transparency tuning and lighting corrections
- VR Unit with tools such as VR Blur, VR Sharpen , Flicker Fixer and more
- Broadcast Safe for compliance with broadcast standards
- Title Studio receives improvements for more realistic shadows, DOF, spline-based motion paths and many presets & templates.

Availability & Compatibility
Sapphire 11 runs under Adobe, Avid, the Autodesk family and OFX hosts, including Resolve, Fusion and Nuke. Continuum 11 is so far available only for Avid and Adobe—but OFX support is still announced for this year. For existing customers of the version 10 products, the update for both tools is free.
