Effex by Navié is a simulation framework for Cinema 4D that lets you simulate fire, smoke and liquids, among other things. After the last 2.8 update, the Effex website went offline. Until then, the price was still several hundred euros – from now on, the tool is available free of charge on GitHub. As an economical alternative to X-Particles 4, the software could therefore be interesting.
