Kinefinity MAVO
Years after the Kinefinity Terra, the 6K, 35mm cinema camera MAVO is now coming onto the market. It is built according to the same modular system that the manufacturers already used with the Terra line. It is therefore obvious that the MOVA also becomes considerably more powerful when the optional KineBACK module is additionally attached at the rear. This unlocks several professional functions, such as dual XLR inputs with phantom power.
The newer version of KineBACK also offers new wireless integration options. It has an extra slot for a new wireless transmitter card, enabling wireless video transmission—supposedly without any discernible delay.
Fact Factory
MAVO has a Super 35mm sensor—larger than the Terra 4K sensor, which lies somewhere between Super 35mm and Micro Four Thirds. This new 6016 x 4016 pixel sensor offers more than 14 dynamic-range stops and a wide variety of maximum frame rates, resolutions and sensor windowing. Open Gate and 4:3 are also included.
Large Formats in Fashion?
The big names Sony VENICE, RED Monstro and ARRI ALEXA LF clearly indicate the tendency towards large sensors and set a brisk pace at the same time.
It is therefore not surprising that Kinefinity wants to follow suit here as well. For this reason, the company also immediately announced the MAVO LF, which aims precisely in this direction. It will shine with a 36x24mm sensor, putting it only just behind the ALEXA LF. The new flagship is expected to be available in August 2018.
