Blender 2.82 integration
AMD released Radeon ProRender 2.3 for Blender 2.80 through 2.82. The free physically based renderer added native rendering for Mantaflow fire, smoke, gas and fluid simulations introduced with Blender 2.82.
Materials, nodes and passes
The bundled material library moved to an Uber-shader base and gained new materials. HSV nodes could connect to textures and render faster. Object ID AOVs began outputting Blender’s Pass Index setting, making identifier passes more useful in compositing.
Installation and platform support
Windows installation could target multiple Blender versions. The update also added LookDev mode, directional-light support and bug fixes. The archived release supported Windows 7 and 10, Ubuntu 16.04.3 and 18.04.0, and macOS High Sierra and Mojave. GPU compatibility remained hardware-dependent.
Test representative scenes, Mantaflow caches, AOVs and target GPUs before replacing an established renderer in production.
