Sony previewed PXW-FX9 version 2.0 and Venice version 6.0 for release later in 2020.
PXW-FX9 version 2.0
FX9 gained DCI 4K at 4096 x 2160 in 17:9, 4K 60p or 50p through oversampling, and 16-bit RAW output to an external recorder. The roadmap also listed Full HD at up to 180fps, user 3D LUTs, Hybrid Log-Gamma HDR recording and touch focus through the LCD viewfinder.
Venice version 6.0
Venice added Advanced Rendering Transform file import, a Technicolor look library, revised user frame lines and gyroscope metadata. High-frame-rate modes reached 72fps at 5.7K 16:9, 110fps at 3.8K and 72fps at 4K 6:5.
Camera teams should test recorder compatibility, RAW metadata, LUT handling and sensor-mode limitations before updating production bodies.
