Archive notice: This article covers Kyno 1.8 and historical pricing from May 2020. The product, integrations and purchase terms may differ today.
Kyno 1.8 expanded media-management handoffs to DaVinci Resolve and Avid Media Composer, while adding Blackmagic RAW playback and transcoding.
NLE integration
A Send To workflow transferred material into DaVinci Resolve. Media Composer support used ALE export and copy-and-paste markers. BRAW files could be played and transcoded into other codecs.
Transcoding and metadata
Incremental transcoding processed complete directories. Folder-level metadata could be copied and pasted, and multicore processing accelerated thumbnail creation and media analysis. The release also added MD5 verification and more metadata columns.
The archived article listed €159 for Standard and €349 for Premium in May 2020. Those prices and the associated licence giveaway have expired.
Media teams should test metadata fidelity, BRAW decoding, checksum behaviour and NLE round-tripping before updating an ingest workflow.
