Boris FX released Particle Illusion as a free standalone application. The premium plug-in retained direct host integration and Mocha planar-tracking features.

Emitter workflow

The GPU-accelerated 2D particle generator used emitters, forces and parameters to build snow, smoke, waterfalls, flames and fireworks. Layer-based setups could be animated with keyframes, while deflectors made particles interact with graphic elements.

Projects supported resolutions up to 8K, unlimited emitters and motion blur. More than 2,500 emitter presets were offered, and standalone renders could be exported in ProRes formats with alpha for compositing.

Availability

Downloading required Boris FX registration. Artists should verify current codecs, colour handling and host compatibility, then test alpha and motion-blur output before production use.
