Blender-to-Maya Bridge
Environment artist Peter Gubin developed Baya as a source-file converter between Blender and Autodesk Maya. The Blender tool exported models directly to Maya’s native .ma format, removing the need for an intermediate FBX file in the described workflow.
Baya supported polygonal geometry and transferred shading information, soft edges and custom vertex normals. Studios should validate hierarchy, material assignments and normals on representative assets before relying on the bridge in production.
Availability
At the time of publication, Baya was sold through Blender Market for US$14.85. The demonstration below shows the original workflow.
