RV 2021
Autodesk released RV 2021, its image-viewing and playback system designed for VFX and animation review workflows.
Python and review changes
The release restored support for Python 3.7.6. Autodesk was also phasing out the older Shotgun Review combination of the Shotgun Media App, browser overlay player and RV desktop player, moving core workflows such as Import Cut and the Python console elsewhere in the review ecosystem.
New naming convention
The product adopted year-based naming: what would previously have been RV 8.0 became RV 2021.0.0.
Available Previous Version
A new policy allowed customers to keep using the most recent designated previous release, initially RV 7.9, with Autodesk planning to update that available version annually.
