Autodesk updated Maya with onboarding features intended to make the 3D application more approachable for newcomers.
“Our goal is for you to know where to find the most important tools within the first ten minutes of opening Maya for the first time,” said Trevor Adams, Experience Design Manager at Autodesk.
Maya 2022.1 introduced a new welcome screen, improved search, an in-app interactive tutorial and Quick Tour walkthroughs. Autodesk described the interactive tutorial as a step towards gamification, helping first-time users learn Maya’s fundamentals through guided exercises.
Quick Tours were aimed at more experienced users, providing short walkthroughs of useful concepts and tools, with links to detailed documentation for deeper study.
