In brief: In a detailed 80 Level workshop, environment artist Emily Cheung discussed a stylised studio-apartment project created with Maya, Substance 3D Painter, Unity and Unreal Engine.

About the artist: Cheung studied computer animation at Teesside University. After moving from an initial interest in concept art to 3D modelling, she joined Draw & Code in Liverpool and worked on architectural visualisation, museum exhibitions and mobile games. She later specialised in mental-health VR content at Oxford VR, including Oculus Rift and Quest projects.

Project focus: Cheung combined an interest in miniature apartment kits with her Unity skills to build a compact Japanese-inspired interior. The workshop covers modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and a final assessment.

Full workshop: The complete breakdown was published by 80 Level. Cheung also maintained a professional website. Test material fidelity, scene scale and real-time performance before production use.
