An independent market analysis ranked Maxon third in the US content-creation software sector. The 2001 Roncarelli Report on the Computer Animation Industry cited growing adoption of Cinema 4D and BodyPaint 3D among individual artists and large production companies.
After ten years as a major European supplier, Maxon reportedly climbed from eleventh to third place in the United States within two years. The report linked this growth with increased competitive pressure and substantial price reductions across the 3D software market.
The number of content-creation software vendors listed by the report fell from 30 to 16 in one year, while some competitors reduced prices by as much as 70 percent.
