With the competitive price, Avid wants to make the professional tool attractive to a much larger target group of digital-video users. In addition to the familiar editing interface, Avid Xpress DV offers more than 100 real-time effects such as moving titles, picture-in-picture effects and automatic colour correction. The software is highly customizable, allowing users to adapt the program interface and keyboard to their working style and take advantage of flexible toolsets. These instantly adapt the user interface to the functions currently being used, including basic editing functions, colour correction, source/record editing, effects editing, audio editing and capture.
The scope of delivery of Avid Xpress DV includes software for Mac OS X and Windows XP, as well as Boris Graffiti LTD for creating and animating 2D titles, Sorenson Squeeze 3 Lite for high-quality conversion to Windows Media 9, QuickTime, Flash, MPEG-2 and other formats, and Sonic Solutions DVDit! SE for DVD creation.
Other professional functions of the successor version to Avid Xpress DV 3.5 include keyframe-related colour effects, JKL Trim, animated titles, real-time motion effects, AAF and soon also MXF support, 24-bit audio support and real-time audio dissolve.
