This makes the functions of Maxon’s BodyPaint 3D available to users of the current version of XSI as well. Character animators, game developers and artists from the

field of film production in particular benefit from the wide range of possibilities that BodyPaint 3D offers for texturing complex models.

With BodyPaint 3D, the user can not only paint simple colors directly onto their 3D model, but also apply complete materials in several texture channels simultaneously with a single brush stroke – Photoshop layers included. In the process, Maxon’s own RayBrush technology makes it possible to paint in the ray-tracing views in real time.

Furthermore, the UV editor provides a convenient way of coordinating geometry and texture with each other in both the 2D and 3D views. Numerous tools from classic image editing, such as layers, masks, Clone Tool and more than 25 filter effects, round off the toolset.

The XSI plug-in is available for Windows and requires BodyPaint 3D Release 2 as well as XSI Release 4 Foundation, Essential or Advanced. The plug-in can be downloaded free of charge from the Maxon website.
