Eyeon Software announced at SIGGRAPH 2005 that it will begin shipping its Fusion 5 compositing solution on 31 August. Developed over two years, the software adds real-time waveform, vectorscope and histogram displays for colour control.
For 3D integration, Fusion 5 can import files from Maya, 3ds Max, LightWave and XSI while retaining scene parameters such as cameras. Version 5 can also import FBX files directly and create a corresponding composition containing the FBX file’s animated lights and cameras. Fusion also loads the scene geometry and textures.
The program’s bins can now be viewed and updated over a network by other Fusion artists to support team workflows. The bins can also run as a standalone service on a central server. A new “Comments” tab lets artists attach production notes to each composite, for example to document individual work steps for themselves or colleagues.
Eyeon says Fusion 5 was designed from the outset for 64-bit operation. A native 64-bit version is planned once suitable compilers and libraries become available.
