SIGGRAPH: NaturalMotion Previews Endorphin 2.5

Numerous new features enable interactive manipulation of existing animations

NaturalMotion has revised its Endorphin animation solution based on Dynamic Motion Synthesis (DMS). Version 2.5 was announced at SIGGRAPH and is intended to let users manipulate animations interactively and intervene in simulations in real time.

Improved and new features:

– The “Transition Event” enables seamless blending back and forth between existing animation and simulation.

– The “Active Animation Event” controls the muscles belonging to the skeleton.

– Static Balancing automatically keeps the character standing on both feet.

– Enhanced Rig Event allows skeletons to be realigned flexibly.

– “Enhanced Collision Mode” provides more accurate collisions even at high speeds.

– “Character Edit Mode” speeds up character setup.

– Support for the Filmbox file format has been expanded.

Endorphin 2.5 is expected to be available from October 2005 for US$12,795. It can alternatively be rented for US$1,595 per month.
