According to the manufacturer, the Avid Media Composer Adrenaline 1.8 and Avid Xpress Pro 4.8 editing solutions are now available for Mac OS X Tiger. In addition to improved performance, Avid says the two solutions offer functions not yet available in this form from any other manufacturer of nonlinear editing systems. The new systems also include a toolset that uses Mac OS Core Image Units to develop entirely new video effects.
“Together with our AVX development partner Noise Industries, our technical development team has made it possible to make optimum use of the power of Mac OS Tiger. We are very confident that every Mac customer using an Avid product with Tiger will experience a considerable increase in performance and functionality,” explains Chas Smith, general manager of Avid’s Video Division.
Customers purchasing a new Avid Media Composer Adrenaline or Avid Xpress Pro system can benefit from professional image processing through the Noise Industries Factory Tools included with the Tiger operating system. The tools access the various image-processing units—the Core Image technology—to offer more than 80 real-time effects. Core Image Units can be combined to create Quartz Compositions: advanced, high-quality visual effects, filters and transitions. These can then be applied immediately to individual clips, titles or complete Avid sequences. Avid says the graphics acceleration in Tiger systems enables unique effects and titles.
Users of Mac OS X Tiger-based Media Composer Adrenaline and Avid Xpress Pro systems can benefit from a wide range of Avid-specific features. Avid Media Composer Adrenaline 1.8 is available now for €23,200 plus VAT. Participants in the Avid Assurance plan receive a free update.
The Avid Xpress Pro 4.8 system is now available for €1,695 excluding VAT. Users of Avid Xpress Pro 4.x can download version 4.8 free of charge. Both new Mac editing solutions are available through Avid’s worldwide dealer network.
