According to the manufacturer, the turnkey solutions are combatible with all standard workstations and servers and offer high scalability for demanding professional applications such as multiple 4k HD video streams (High Definition with 4,096 x 2,160 pixels), 3D designs, scientific and medical visualisations, geological investigations as well as visual simulations and training.
Quadro Plex is available in a desktop version and in a compact 3U rack version with Nvidia’s SLI technology, which allows the use of multiple graphics processors. In addition, according to Nvidia, the system offers:
- more than 20 times the computing density of conventional graphics-processor solutions;
- performance of up to 80 billion pixels per second and seven billion vertices per second;
- resolutions of up to 148 megapixels on 16 synchronised digital
output and eight HD-SDI channels;
- many configuration options, from an individual system to a cluster, offer high scalability and increase system availability.
The Nvidia Quadro Plex 1000 is compatible with x86 32- and 64-bit processors from Intel and AMD under Windows and Linux. More detailed information can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
Since its announcement in August, the Quadro Plex VCS 1000 has been used worldwide, among other things, in the automotive industry, in research and by design companies. The system is available from Nvidia partners such as PNY Technologies (USA and Europe), Elsa (Japan), Leadtek (Asia Pacific), HP, Sun Microsystems, BOXX Technologies, Colfax International and Verari Systems.
