NaturalPoint is presenting what is currently probably the lowest-priced solution for motion tracking at SIGGRAPH with OptiTrack. For 5000 US dollars, the manufacturer offers six high-speed infrared cameras with USB connection. Alongside the teh OptiTrack FLEX:V100 cameras, the Arena Motion Capture software is inlcuded in the bundle. By means of a plug-in for MotionBuilder, the optically captured movements can be transferred to the Autordesk software in real time by means of live streaming.
By plug-in, the optically captured movements can be processed in Autodesk MotionBuilder in real time.
Additional cameras for the system cost 530 US dollars each.
The black suit with integrated reflectors as markers is not included in the price.
According to the manufacturer, the hardware is available immediately, but the software will not be released until October 2007.
