RTT Opens Emerging Technology Contest 2008

Students and universities can enter projects in interaction, rendering, simulation and real-time 3D content until 8 March 2008.

RTT AG is running its Emerging Technology Contest for a second time. Institutes and students can submit projects until 8 March 2008.

The international competition provides a platform for research into 3D technology and virtual reality. Universities and students worldwide can enter ongoing technology projects or material created specifically for the contest.

Categories cover Interfacing and Interaction, 3D Rendering and Simulation Software Technologies, and 3D Content Realtime.

Entries require a video and a short project description. Evaluation criteria include innovation, coherence and usability. Winners will present their work at the ninth RTT Conference in Vienna’s Hofburg on 10 and 11 April 2008. The conference brings together product designers, VR specialists and marketing professionals from the automotive, aerospace and consumer-goods industries.

RTT established the contest to encourage development in 3D visualisation and virtual reality and identify potential future innovations. Winners of the first competition included the University of Bonn’s Institute of Computer Science II and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.

Students and universities can submit projects through RTT’s website. The company also provides a contest email address for questions.
