The sensational success thus achieved the second-best opening result ever for a documentary — only ‘Germany. A Summer’s Fairytale’ opened better.
‘27 Dresses’ with Katherine Heigl and ‘John Rambo’, by and starring Sylvester Stallone, fought a heated head-to-head race for second place, which the female star of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ ultimately won with almost 240,000 visitors.
With 230,000 visitors, ‘John Rambo’ therefore has to settle for third place.
Remarkable: in its ninth week, ‘Rabbit Without Ears’ still thrilled an incredible 225,000 cinema-goers and has thus passed the magic threshold of 5 million viewers — the first German production to do so since ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer ’ in autumn 2006.
