NVIDIA’s new GeForce 9600 GT graphics processor is driven by 64 stream processors, each of which reaches a super-fast 1,625 MHz. The 256-bit memory interface runs at 900 MHz. The GeForce 9600 GT supports the new PCIe 2.0 standard and is backwards-compatible with PCIe. In addition, the NVIDIA GPU offers a better performance-per-watt ratio and greater compression efficiency than its predecessors.
NVIDIA’s PureVideo technology enables playback of high-resolution HD videos and Blu-ray films. The Video Processing Engine handles the decoding of H.264 videos and relieves the CPU so that it can carry out other tasks. This also drastically reduces power consumption.
The GeForce 9600 GT is ideally suited to current games such as “Call of Duty 4” and “Unreal Tournament 3”, which run at resolutions of 1,900 x 1,200 or higher and with high image quality. Until now, this was possible only with graphics cards in the price segment above 250 euros. The GeForce 9600 GT is available from 169 euros and makes high-end gaming affordable. GeForce 9600 GT-based graphics cards are available immediately from all leading card manufacturers, retailers and system manufacturers.
