The Area-51 combines an NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI-based motherboard with an NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GX2 dual-GPU graphics card as a gaming platform.

A completely open BIOS with greater overclocking headroom than its predecessors is intended to raise Area-51 performance further.
The 9800 GX2 uses GDDR3 memory, with 512 MB for each GPU, and reaches speeds of up to 1100 MHz.
High frame rates are intended to support smooth next-generation HD gaming and video.
NVIDIA’s graphics chipset introduces native PCI Express 2.0 support and uses DDR3 memory running at 2 GHz. Compatible with Intel processors using a 1600 MHz front-side bus, the motherboard supports Intel’s 45-nanometre processors. The nForce 790i chipset can operate not only in dual-SLI configurations but also with triple or quad SLI.
