Creation Club: After initially expanding its existing Avid Unity ISIS central-storage system in early 2007, the integrated-communications agency has now selected additional Avid products.
Creation Club has used a Unity ISIS storage system with six ISIS chassis and a current total capacity of 72 TB for some time, supporting productions in promotion, sport and Premiere. An Avid Interplay cluster provides workgroup data management.
Both areas are combined with Avid Media Composer, which provides film and video editing functions including the mixing of HD, DV and SD material. The existing Avid workflow has been expanded with AirSpeed systems, transcode and transfer servers, and an SGL archive solution.
Plazamedia: The television and film production company is also updating the Avid Media Composer, Unity ISIS and Interplay package used for Bundesliga sports broadcasts. The infrastructure includes the main currently available product upgrades from the Avid range and is intended to support efficient media production.
rt1.tv: The new rt1.tv capital-city studio in Berlin will take over technical production for Bayerischer Rundfunk’s Berlin and Brandenburg coverage during 2008. The company has upgraded its studio equipment with the latest Avid Unity MediaNetwork 5.0, providing shared real-time storage. Avid Media Composer, Interplay and AirSpeed will also be used in rt1.tv production.
Avid has also gained customers beyond German production facilities in recent weeks.
Dutch video-production company Beta Beat Amsterdam BV renewed its media-production environment with six Avid Media Composer systems with Mojo SDI, four Media Composer Adrenaline systems, an Avid Interplay system with five Assist workstations, and a Digidesign Pro Tools audio-editing system.
Austrian broadcaster ORF is extending its Unity ISIS and Interplay installation, described as Austria’s largest, and is also using Avid for its move into HD. K-Effects, a Vienna company specialising in digital effects and postproduction, has replaced its old LANshare system with a new Avid Unity Fibre Channel 4 TB MediaEngine and 4 TB MediaArray, adding two Symphony Nitris systems.
Other companies in the German-speaking region using new Avid Unity MediaNetwork 5.0 installations include:
-
Switzerland’s TPC Swiss with a Unity LANshare and Interplay installation

WDR mediagroup GmbH in Cologne with an installation comprising Avid Unity MediaNetwork 5.0, Interplay with Interplay Assist, updated Media Composer Adrenaline systems, a local Transfer Manager, DS Nitris and DS Assist
