Last weekend, audience favourite Will Smith once again demonstrated impressively that he is the world’s biggest star: as Hancock, he stormed to number one at the box office in Germany, the United States and 46 other countries around the globe.
Around 1.2 million visitors during the opening weekend in Germany
Approximately one in every three cinema tickets sold in Germany was for Hancock. The action comedy therefore achieved the best opening result of the current cinema year.
$107 million at the US box office over Independence Day weekend
In America, too, Will Smith thrilled audiences as the most unusual superhero in cinema history and once again reinforced his reputation as the “king of the Independence Day box office.”
Synopsis
There are heroes. There are superheroes. And then there is Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility—everyone knows that; everyone, that is, except Hancock. Life as a superhero is not easy for him. Because of his unconventional methods and a number of “mishaps,” the people of Los Angeles no longer think particularly highly of him. Everyone loves to hate him. But a PR consultant (Jason Bateman) wants to help him restore his battered image.
When Hancock also falls in love with the consultant’s attractive wife Mary (Charlize Theron), the chaos finally runs out of control—especially when it emerges that the two have unexpected things in common. The new film starring superstar and audience favourite Will Smith leaves nothing to be desired. This time, Oscar winner Charlize Theron is also at his side as a genuine dream woman. An action comedy with a top-class cast.
