A secret is being revealed: until now, we humans have never been able to hear the voice of the world’s most legendary fairy. But from November, everything will change and we will finally learn what fairies sound like when they speak.
To give Peter Pan’s best friend a voice, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment and Sat.1 breakfast television launched a nationwide appeal in May. More than 2,000 applicants entered, all eager to lend their voices to the beloved character. After the best voices—including both amateurs and numerous professional voice actors—recorded auditions in a sound studio, Tinker Bell’s German voice has finally been chosen.
Munich voice actress Gabrielle Pietermann won the competition and will lend her voice to the smallest animated heroine of all time from November. The studio dubbing sessions were recently completed.
Two-time Oscar winner John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, is also enthusiastic about the spectacular animated adventure filled with magic:
“Tinker Bell has always been one of my favorite characters,” says John Lasseter. “She has always had a funny and lively personality. I was immediately fascinated by the idea of answering the question, ‘Where does Tinker Bell come from, and are there more fairies like her?’ That led us to develop the idea into a film. She still has the same wonderful personality, but now that we are in the world of fairies, we can finally understand what fairies say and hear Tinker Bell’s voice for the first time.”
