The storage-intensive content typical of broadcast production could be processed quickly and securely, enabling the Hollywood studio to complete postproduction on the trailer for “The Dark Knight” and many demanding visual effects for the film within a tight schedule.

“With this project, we were in the public spotlight and working to a very tight production schedule. Our studio therefore rightly demanded the highest levels of creativity, content security, and strict adherence to delivery deadlines from everyone involved,” reports Andy Tran, Managing Director and CTO of Pacific Title & Art Studio. “We needed a storage solution offering maximum performance and flexibility, giving multiple users simultaneous, fast, and easy access to several high-resolution data streams. Only then could we meet the schedule and the high expectations. DataDirect Networks’ S2A storage platform delivered the performance, consistency, and capacity we needed every day.”

“Pacific Title was commissioned to produce several 4K, 2K, and HD trailers with special effects for the year’s biggest box-office hit,” said Alex Bouzari, CEO of DataDirect Networks. “DataDirect Networks is the only provider offering a storage solution specifically for companies with content-intensive real-time environments. With guaranteed quality of service (QoS), it delivers identical read and write speeds and consistently maintains predicted performance, even with extremely large files. Proven in worldwide use for ten years, the S2A platform is an application-oriented architecture that intelligently uses customizable logic modules (FPGAs) to solve data-infrastructure problems where other storage solutions fail.”

Through its experience, creativity, expertise, and awareness of trends, Pacific Title & Art Studio has had a lasting influence on the feature-film industry by using the latest technologies. The production company was founded in 1919 by Leon Schlesinger, the legendary animation specialist and Warner Bros. producer, and established itself as a leading producer of feature-film title sequences.

DataDirect Networks is appearing at IBC 2008 at stand 7.K18 together with Andy Tran, Managing Director and CTO of Pacific Title & Art Studio.
