Bavaria Film GmbH and Europool GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Telepool GmbH, are establishing a joint company called Bavariapool International Coproductions GmbH.
The Geiselgasteig-based company’s principal purpose will be to acquire and finance major international co-productions. Dr Dieter Frank, managing director of Bavaria Film until July 2008, will become Bavariapool’s founding managing director.
Bavaria Film managing director Dr Matthias Esche says: “The establishment of Bavariapool is a significant step: related companies are joining forces in an important area to enable additional business together. Dr Dieter Frank is the ideal choice for this role.”
Telepool managing director Dr Thomas Weymar says: “With Bavariapool, two strong partners—Bavaria and Telepool—are combining their strengths to expand their position together in the strategically important segment of international co-production. It is a classic win-win situation.”
