Quantel’s eQ, iQ, Sid and Pablo finishing and color-correction systems now allow RED camera footage to be imported without time-consuming conversion. The manufacturer is providing a free extension to all users of its software version 4.
During import, Quantel’s Sizing technology helps achieve excellent results, the company says. Projects recorded with RED in 4K can be finished either at their original resolution or in 2K, HD, SD or Stereo3D. Final Cut Pro’s offline/online integration is intended to save additional time during the finishing process.
“Our customers are reporting a massive increase in projects shot with RED,” explained Mark Horton, Strategic Marketing Manager at Quantel. The company therefore accelerated development of its RED importer. Horton said it can cover every aspect of a post-production job, from editing and color correction through compositing to broadcast-ready material. “Our customers can mix footage in other formats with RED footage as they wish, without having to render or convert it separately, saving time and disk capacity while maximizing quality,” the Quantel manager summarized.
