exozet effects produced greenscreen composites for more than 100 shots in the two-part television film. Among other things, this was used to create a coach journey on a highway artificially, allowing the road and wintry landscapes to be seen passing by through the windows. The VFX professionals also digitally created the snow in which the two comic characters argue.

For the television film’s opening titles, Vienna City Hall was also placed inside a digitally animated 3D snow globe whose production was particularly elaborate. The story begins in Vienna and follows an unpleasant businessman played by Christoph Maria Herbst and a salesman of inflatable rubber bath toys played by Bastian Pastewka. The two meet while traveling back from Austria to Berlin and, through a series of unforeseeable coincidences, involuntarily embark on a shared odyssey to get home before Christmas. During the journey, the mismatched pair constantly clash and find themselves in the most bizarre situations.

“Zwei Weihnachtsmänner” was scheduled to air on Sat.1 at 8:15 p.m. on December 18 and 19.
